Getting to spend New Year Eve at a wonderfully fun event with some of my very favorite local entertainers was an incredibly lucky break. I had no idea till I arrived that the event had booked Mr Snowdon the amazing stilt walker, Visha Loo the insanely talented contortionist and Stephon Diachuk with his adorable juggling act.
We were also able to premiere our Acrobalance act after all the exhausting rehearsal. After reviewing the video of the performance 100 times i’m pleased to say it was very ok. 🙂
After a long day of rehearsal I’ve come home to work on my card manipulation skills. Nothing makes you feel like a nerd than drilling false shuffles and watching star trek but it is definatly my idea of a great Saturday night.
Thought I would feature the tutorials I’m using in case you’d like to follow along.
I was challenged to design a balloon owl for a friend of mine, challenge complete 🙂
Lately I’ve been taking my balloon artistry more seriously. I want to get into building more advanced sculptures and designs. As a way of practicing I’ve been having visitors to our apartment challenge me to design a new creation on the spot.
This video is of the incredible Adam Lobo, a fire eating student of mine that is just killing it. When I first created the Fire Eating DVD I never thought I would see anyone flourish like he and a few others have. I really can’t take credit for any of his skill, this is 100% pure star quality.
Here are 3 new stunts to inspire student. Tod Young send me a video of him doing some tricks after just a couple weeks of lessons and I was blow away. I wanted to put some new ideas out there to keep everyone on their toes.
A very fancy Costume Party Supporting Calgary Opera this Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 8:30pm I will be performing at the Hotel Arts (119 – 12th Avenue SW) in the 10th Anniversary Grave Gala which is 100% sold-out!!!
Viva Verdi! – and all things Italian, including this year’s theme for Calgary’s most outrageous Halloween party. They have me eating fire on a glass podium in the center of a pool, how cool is that?
Here’s what they say about the event:
“Venice is Sinking will transport you into the world of Venetian mystique with moonlit canals, swarthy gondoliers and carnival entertainers. You will no doubt encounter famous Italian artists, composers and explorers – as well as characters from the colourful underbelly of the famous European city.
Voted one of Calgary’s best parties of the year, Grave Gala has once again sold-out.”
One of my childhood friends and I will be there enjoying the night after my performance and I hope to see you there 🙂
On October 19th, 2012 the Television Show where I set the new world record for “longest duration fire torch teething”, Los Show Dei Record in Rome, Italy FINALLY AIRED.
Note: Fire torch teething refers to a fire eating stunt which involves using one’s teeth to grip a flaming torch and holding it upright in the mouth without the use of one’s hands. This stunt is considered both dangerous and incredibly difficult. The intense pain from the fire on one’s mouth and teeth plus the inability to breathe throughout the performance of the stunt make this an impressive feat.
The record stood at an impossible 1 minute 32.75 seconds and was achieved by Wendell Gray in Mumbai, India. In training to break his record, I had to work on the trick every day for over a month before flying to Italy in April of 2012 for the chance of a lifetime.
On April 12th in Rome, Italy in front of a live audience I freaked out when I became a Guinness World Record Holder after successfully holding a flaming torch in my mouth for an incredible 2 minutes and 1 second.
I am super excited to finally be able to share the news with friends after the show aired on Thursday.

Filmed in one of the most beautiful and scenic places in Alberta. For this shoot we trekked out with fire props, camera gear and safety equipment to get some nice shots on the very last day before snowfall.
It may have been chilly and a little scary to spin on the ledge of a cliff, but it was well worth the results. Enjoy the video.
